Get Water Uganda (GWU) is a not for profit Organization concerned with Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) programs and Climate Change Mitigation in Uganda. GWU envisions a community, where all people have access to clean and safe drinking water and sanitation and are responsive to climate change while using simple and sustainable Community Based Design Approaches. GWU programs, approach and strategy contributes and address the Global Sustainable Goals comprehensively with SDG6 - Clean water and Sanitation at the focal point; by provision of safe drinking water to the people and raising awareness for water disinfection, hygiene and sanitation (WASH measures). Our work also influence directly on SDG1- No poverty by reduction of health costs, money and time spent on getting firewood, SDG3- Good health and well-being by reducing the risk of waterborne diseases for the people, SDG4- Quality education by sensitizing people about water disinfection and disease transmission from an early age and reduction of waterborne diseases holding positive impact on school attendance and work, SDG5- Gender equality by empowering women as providers of safe water, recognizing and valuing the domestic work, SDG13- Climate action by reduction of CO2 emissions, raising awareness for climate change mitigation, SDG15- Life on land by reduction of deforestation and protection of vital woods for the ecosystem, SDG17- Partnership for the goals by strengthening international cooperation to support sustainable development, including dissemination of environmentally friendly technologies.
Get Water Uganda currently operates in Namayingo district, Eastern Uganda with prospective growth in East-Central districts including; Busia, Mayuge, Butaleja, Bugweri, Luuka and Namutumba in the next years.
