Mr. John Sanya
John holds a Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA) from Nkumba University, Uganda and a diploma in Business Studies (DBS) from Uganda College of Commerce Tororo. He went to Manjasi High School for Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education and Masaba College in Busia district for Uganda Certificate of Education respectively.
He was a students‘ Leader – Founder Chairperson of Basamia – Bugwe, Banyole Students Association while at Uganda College of Commerce Tororo and Chairperson of Scripture Union/ Students Christian Fellowship, Senior House Prefect, Senior Health Prefect and General Secretary Students‘ Disciplinary Committee at Manjasi High School.
He is the Proprietor and Director of Parents‘ Hope Junior School Mukono, and Director of Joy Vocational and Business Institute Mukono an Institute that promotes education and skilling of people with disabilities. He also serves on several organisational boards bringing a wide base of leadership knowledge to GWU. He is a church elder at victorious Christian ministry in Mukono, Uganda.
He worked with CESVI – an Italian International non-government Organization as a Project Manager, worked at ICR – Uganda. (International Care and Relief) as a Credit Manager, served as a Branch Manager at FOCCAS Uganda (Foundation for Credit and Community Assistance) and also as a Field Officer in the same organization.
John specifically undertook short course trainings in project planning and management, project monitoring and evaluation, project cycle management, life skills training, customer care and management, qualitative research methods to track programme impact, leadership and management skills course, finance for non-finance managers course, branch management course, budgeting and budgetary management, strategic planning, middle managers‘ leadership development course, delinquency management, interest rate setting and loan monitoring, loan performer and adult Education.
John speaks English, Samia and Luganda and brings incredible experience in governance and management to the board of Get Water Uganda and he is the current Board chair.
